International Students: Financial Aid

Financing your education at Lenoir-Rhyne University can be accomplished in several different ways. Most students from abroad (and the US) pay a large percentage of college costs from personal funds and supplement additional expenses with money earned from employment or from loans and scholarships.

At Lenoir-Rhyne University most available scholarships, grants and loans are restricted to US citizens, but there is some financial aid which is unrestricted. Financial aid packages for international students would consist of a scholarship or grant and part-time campus employment as available. These scholarships and grants are very competitive. Students need to demonstrate that they have a

  • strong academic record at the secondary school level
  • TOEFL score meets Lenoir-Rhyne University standards (550) and
  • all relevant application forms are submitted in a timely manner (preferably before November 1)

For more information on what scholarships would be unrestricted, contact the Office for Financial Aid.

On Campus Employment
According to US Immigration regulations, international students on F-1 status may seek work on campus after the approved nine-month residency. The modest salaries from these jobs normally cover the cost of books, study materials, supplies and incidentals.

Home Country Scholarships
Local community organizations, private businesses, foundations, or religious groups may award student grants or loans to pursue education in the US. The Scandinavian governments, for example, offer some support to students for overeas studies.
