Literacy Education K-12

Based on a response to the recent re-authorization of ESEA - Elementary & Secondary Education Act (funding Title 1), the Reading First initiative is built upon the premise that all students should be reading well by the end of third grade.  Therefore, the federal government is considering additional monies for the hiring of new reading specialist in the elementary schools, especially schools deemed "at-risk."  The advanced licensure graduate program in Literacy Education (K-12) meets the need for the upcoming demand for more certified reading specialists at not only elementary, but also middle school and high school levels.

Tier I courses and EDU 524 are offered on a regular basis.  Other Tier II and III courses are offered when sufficient student enrollment warrants.  Contact LRC Admissions Office for further information and to apply.
