Lenoir-Rhyne
Offers More
Here are just a few of the reasons why you
should pursue a teaching fellowship at Lenoir-Rhyne College.
-
A $52,000 scholarship.
That's $13,000 a year for four years to attend one of NC's finest
private colleges and become part of its legendary teaching program.
Additional Financial Aid is also available.
-
Your own notebook computer.
As
an L-R Teaching Fellow, you'll receive your own wireless notebook
computer and all the latest technology training. Learn from
our INTEL "teach to the future" training, take advantage of online
educational tool sets, or even create your own digital documentary.
-
Premier housing.
You
will live in the best that Lenoir-Rhyne has to offer. Our
recently renovated Fritz-Conrad Residence Hall is the newest and most
advanced housing on campus. As a freshman you will be living
there in a community with your Teaching Fellows classmates.
-
Study abroad.
Pack your duffle! As an L-R Teaching Fellow, you'll spend an
intensive week studying the educational system in another country -
China, Finland, maybe even Poland - and comparing it to other
systems. Best of all, our programs are shorter ( a week,
instead of a semester), and the trip is fully funded. (You pay
only modest out-of-pocket expenses.)
-
Real research projects.
As a freshman Fellow, you'll select a topic (anything from cell
growth to romantic poetry), and then engage in an intensive,
four-year research project with an L-R faculty member. As part
of the process, you'll learn the ins and outs of applying for
collaborative study grants. And, the college may actually fund your
project.
-
A dedicated Three-Person
support team.
You'll have your own peer mentor, plus two faculty mentors - one
from the School of Education and another from the College of Arts
and Sciences (usually the professor you will be partnered with for
research).
-
More foreign language.
Our program is grounded in the idea that global citizenship and
diversity is becoming more prominent in our schools, and we want you to
be as prepared as possible for those challenges. It makes
sense that our Teaching Fellows take an extra semester of foreign
language. You can select topics in French, German, Spanish, or even American Sign
Language.
