Alumni Association Awards Program
Outstanding Lenoir-Rhyne College alumni are recognized
each year with the following awards.
Clarence L. Pugh Distinguished Alumnus Award
The Clarence L. Pugh Distinguished Alumnus Award
is the Alumni Association’s highest award and is
presented annually to that alumnus/a who has achieved
great prominence in his or her field of endeavor. The
field may be broad (higher education, medicine,
athletics) or narrow (cancer research, space program).

Moretz Alumni Service Awards
Distinguished
Service to Community The nominee has provided
unusual service or exemplary service to his or her
community, church or other local organization.
Distinguished
Service to the College The nominee has served the
College through the years and especially during the year
of selection. Nominee is not required to be an
alumnus/a. Faculty, staff or institutions may
be honored in this way.
Distinguished Service to the Alumni Association
Nominee served the College through projects of the
Alumni Association. This award should not be
presented solely because an individual held a specific
office or served for a specific period of time.
Specific accomplishments must be cited
Alumni Association Rising Star Award
This award recognizes
outstanding potential or achievement on the part of
young alumni. To be considered, an individual must have
graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College within the last 10
years (may be extended to 15 if there is significant
post-graduate education involved) and must have
demonstrated outstanding potential or achievement in his
or her career field. This award may also be granted for
outstanding in community or volunteer leadership.
