Courses leading toward a major in Medical Technology give the student
fundamentals of biology and chemistry followed by a year of clinical
study at an approved medical technology school. Upon completing the
program, the student has the basis to understand both theory and application
of medical laboratory procedures and is capable of teaching, supervising
and performing complex laboratory tests.
Seniors
must also take a one-year course of study in medical technology at one
of the schools of medical technology with which Lenoir-Rhyne has a working
relationship, or any other accredited school of medical technology upon
approval of the Lenoir-Rhyne Academic Program Committee. Medical technology
schools with which Lenoir-Rhyne has an affiliation agreement include
Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte; Wake Forest University Baptist
Medical Center,Winston-Salem; and Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
