Patty Wike Presents Paper

Patty Wike presented a paper at the Atlantic Coast Business, Marketing & Information Technology Conference titled: "The Pedagogy of PowerPoint: Misuse and Alternatives".  The conference was held in Raleigh, NC from Feb. 17-18, 2006.

Michael Dugan Gives Presentations and Named Chairman 

Michael Dugan, Alex Lee Professor of Business has recently served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC.

Michael also gave guest lectures at NCSU on"The State of the American Furniture Industry" in November.

In addition, Michael completed a workshop on "Teaching Leadership" at the University of Georgia and one on "Strategic Marketing" in San Diego.

Wayne King Named ACBSP National Treasurer

wayne_king.jpg (19712 bytes)Wayne King has been active in ACBSP for years.  He as been the National Treasurer for ACBSP from June 2003 until June 2005. Earlier he served  Region Three President in 2002 and President-Elect of Region Three in 2001.

 


Bob Simmons Receives NC Phi Beta Lambda Honorary Lifetime Membership

Bob Simmons was honored with an Honorary Lifetime Membership for his over 40 years of service and dedication to Phi Beta Lambda, at the state and national level, as well as with our local chapter.  He served as State Co-Director for 12 years and is recognized throughout the nation for his leadership and commitment to Phi Beta Lambda.

 

Bob Simmons selected for Phi Beta Lambda’s Wall of Fame

Bob Simmons was recently selected for the national Wall of Fame award from Phi Beta Lambda, a national business fraternity. He received the award July 1 at the 50th National Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas, for 39 years of service as chapter advisor. A plaque honoring him was placed on the National Center Wall of Fame of the Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda Inc. in Washington, D.C.  

Two School of Business Professors Receive Grants

Dale King and Patty Wike have received Kemper Grants for Fall 2003.  Dale is working on developing a creative International Business course.  Patty Wike is working on developing an internship web page with links to prospective employers to increase the number of interns.  

     Patty Wike also received a 2003 Summer Research Grant to research and design an Health Care Administration undergraduate major and MBA concentration.

Patty Wike Makes Conference Presentation

Professor Patty Wike presented a paper at the Atlantic Coast Business, Marketing and Information Technology Education Conference in Raleigh, NC on February 14, 2003.  The paper was titled, "Access: Relational Tables, Queries, Forms, Reports and Subreports Made Easy". 

 


Sarah Wallace Attends Writing Workshop

On February 2 & 3, 2003, Professor Sarah Wallace attended a workshop titled, Assigning and Assessing Writing, at Seabrook Island, SC with faculty members from the Citadel and Columbia University. The workshop was led by Rebecca Burnett from Iowa State University. 

 

Sarah Wallace Attend Communicating Across the Curriculum Conference

Professor Sarah Wallace attended a Communicating Across the Curriculum Conference at the Catholic Conference Center in Hickory on Jan. 30-31, 2003.  The conference was led by Dr. Chris Anson from NC State University.

Dr. Wayne and Dale King Present one Paper and Get Another Published

Wayne King and Dr. Dale King attended the ACBSP SouthEastern Region Conference in Gatalin, TN in October , In addition, the Kings had a paper accepted for presentation at the Ethics in Electronic Information 21st Century Symposium at the University of Memphis in October.  The paper, The Internet:  PLGiarism's Newest Accomplice?,  was presented at the symposium last year and was recently published in ETHICS AND ELECTRONIC INFORMATION, edited by Rockenbach and Mendina, published by McFarland and Company. 

School of Business Faculty Attend ACBSP Conference

After years of work by faculty members, the Charles M. Snipes School of Business was accredited by ACBSP, Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs. At a gala celebration in Houston Texas, four faculty members were in attendance to accept the honor. Dr. Dale King was instrumental in coordinating the accreditation efforts. During the ceremony, Dr. Wayne King received the ACBSP International Excellence in Teaching Award.

Wayne King Receives Excellence in Teaching Award

Wayne King has been chosen as the ACBSP Baccalaureate and Graduate Commission Region III Teaching Excellence Award Recipient for 2202.  Region III includes all four-year ACBSP member schools from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. 

 

Dale King Noted as Bost Distinguished Professor 

The Charles M. Snipes School of Business is proud to acknowledge the Bost Distinguished Professorship Award going to one of their own, Dale King.  Congratulations Dale!

 

 

DSE Decision Sciences Institute

Patty Wike an attended the Thirty First Annual Meeting of the SE Decision Sciences Institute February 21-23 in Charlotte.
