Management
Information Systems Major
The Management Information Systems
program combines a focus on Information Technology and the business
workplace. Majors will get a business orientation that enables them to
succeed no matter what direction technology goes. An MIS degree
prepares students for work in business firms, public agencies, and non-profit
organizations where information is created, manipulated, and used.
There is a strong emphasis on the social and behavioral dimensions of
information technology and on the effective management of information
resources. The MIS program is an interdisciplinary program designed to
give students the skills in information technologies in preparation for
careers in such fields as systems analysis, information management,
competitive intelligence and database management. The MIS major emphasizes
the human context of current and future technology. The MIS major will
fill a need that lies between the programmer who has a Computer Information
Systems degree and the Business graduate.
