The
Communication major provides students with the broad
background necessary for successful entry into the
field of communication.
A common core of courses gives majors an
understanding of both the history of the field
and the ethical responsibilities of
professional communicators in our society.
These foundation courses also
provide specific skills in writing, speaking,
broadcasting, and group communications. Majors are
required to take two core writing courses, a research
methods course, and a final senior capstone course.
In addition to the core communication courses required of
all majors, students are given the opportunity to chose a
specialized track within the major that is best suited to
the student's interests and career goals. This tracks
include: Corporate communication, Electronic, and Print.
Both internships
and courses in the tracks provide practical,
professional experience in these areas. The
Communication major earns a B.A. degree.
