Lenoir-Rhyne
maintains several computing laboratories available to all registered
students. Three general purpose microcomputer laboratories containing
Pentium level PCs are networked across a campus fiber backbone. All
residence hall rooms and campus offices are linked to the network which
is connected to the Internet through a high-speed dedicated line.
Several multimedia teaching classrooms are also connected to the network
and offer the ability to use text, audio, video in a stand-alone
environment or through connection to the network.
The
CS program has a dedicated
state-of-the-art Computer Lab which provides departmental
machines for higher-level applications. The
department maintains an high-level Web Server available for
upper division CS and CIS courses for students to develop applications
and have access to the development environment off-campus.
The department has its own web server for
development of web applications for students in CS and CIS classes.
All majors are supplied with the necessary software to complete their
work (free of charge), made possible by a grant from Microsoft.
