What do our students have to say?

An Interview with Valerie:

Why did you choose L-R and what makes L-R special?

I chose L-R because I knew I felt at home the second we drove onto campus for my first visit.  The brick buildings, the quaint campus, and the friendly staff drew me in immediately.  I interviewed for the Honors University on my second visit, and that's what sealed the deal.  Not only did the staff genuinely care about me and my future, but the academics were outstanding.  This is what is special about L-R.  At larger schools, empathy usually goes out the window.  At L-R, we have the best of both worlds.

What do you like best about L-R?

In addition to the academics, I love the atmosphere at L-R.  I love that everyone knows each other, for the most part.  There is something very comforting about knowing everyone.

What do you believe has been your experience with your major?

I am a Comprehensive Science Education Major (Grades 9-12), which requires a lot of science courses in addition to education courses.  I was concerned about needing to stay an extra semester because of all the classes I had to take, which was my worst experience within my major.  However, beginning this fall, many of the education classes are combined, so I will in fact be able to graduate on time.  This is what I love about L-R; their commitment to innovative learning and challenging old systems so as to further the excellence in curriculum.

Do you believe that L-R will/has prepared you for your future?

The Lenoir-Rhyne School of Education is committed to field experience in all majors.  By requiring us to complete this, they are preparing us for our future careers.
