Prospective Undergraduate Students
Application Process for Financial Aid

The First-Priority Filer Deadline is March 1, 2008.

Complete and submit the Application for Undergraduate Admission.

  1. Complete and submit to Federal Student Aid Programs the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A paper FAFSA will be mailed to you in December. It is also available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Although the FAFSA cannot be completed prior to January 1, we recommend that you complete it as soon as possible after January 1. You will need your and your parents’ 2007 Federal Income Tax Return Forms when completing this form. Be sure to enter the L-R Title IV code 002941 in Step Six. It takes approximately four to six weeks to process this form.

  2. Keep copies of your FAFSA and the resulting Student Aid Report (SAR), your and your parents' Federal Income Tax Return forms (including all schedules and W2s) readily available. If your SAR is selected for verification, our office is required to collect copies of these documents for your financial aid file. Our office may send you a letter requesting these and possibly other forms, please submit them to our office within ten days. Failure to respond to a letter requesting additional information may jeopardize your eligibility for aid.

  3. Visit your local library, chamber of commerce, high school guidance office, and the Internet to explore other free outside scholarships. Your reference librarian can show you books that list a host of possible resources beyond those awarded by L-R. Many students have told us this is much more effective than sending a fee to a college scholarship search service. Most "outside" scholarships have a February deadline. We suggest you begin your research in the fall, request the applications, and complete them thoroughly.

  4. Once you are accepted for admission and we receive your SAR, we will consider you for all types of Federal, State, and University financial aid. This information will be sent to you in your financial aid package. Read all of the information provided in the financial aid package carefully and respond within twenty days. Failure to respond to a financial aid package may result in the cancellation or adjustment of funds offered.

The Final Deadline for Summer School is May 1, 2008.
The Final Deadline for Fall Semester is August 20, 2008.
The Final Deadline for Spring Semester is January 3, 2009.
