I'm thinking about attending graduate school. Where can I get information regarding schools in my field of interest?

Visit www.gradschools.com for a great search engine that allows you to search schools by state, university or program of study.

Here are some tips that you may find useful in selecting a graduate school:

  1. Contact the program director of the school your interested in and ask questions about what they have to offer.

  2. Visit the school and interview the program director.

  3. Apply for a teaching or graduate assistantship. There are many institutions that will pay for your education.

  4. Remember to continually ask yourself "What does this program have to offer me and how will it further my career endeavors?".

 

How many credit hours do I need to be considered a senior?

  • Seniors: 92 or more credit hours

  • Juniors: 60 to 91 credit hours

  • Sophomores: 28 to 59 credit hours

  • Freshmen: 0 to 27 credit hours

 

What's the minimum number of credit hours I need to be considered a full-time student?

Students must register for a minimum of 12 credit hours to be considered a full-time student. Enrollment in less than 12 credit hours will impact financial aid and your eligibility for participation in athletics.

 

What's considered an overload of credit hours?

Freshman need permission to be enrolled in 17 or more credit hours while upperclassman require permission for 19 or more credit hours.

 

 

 

How many credit hours will transfer from another college I attended?

In general, up to 64 semester hours will be allowed to transfer. The registrar's office determines the acceptability of credit hours on an individual basis. Currently enrolled LR students need permission prior to taking courses elsewhere for transfer credit.
