Anita Johnson GwinVice President for Student Affairs
Anita has served as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Lenoir-Rhyne College since 1996. Prior to Lenoir-Rhyne, Anita served the administrations of Augsburg College, University of Northern Colorado, University of Phoenix, Morningside College and University of Northern Iowa. Her passion is to intentionally cause learning to take place in the lives of young adults.
Anita is a native of South Dakota and holds an M.A. degree in Counseling from the University of South Dakota as well as a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of South Dakota. Anita has completed additional graduate work in College Student Personnel Administration at the University of Northern Colorado, and I.E.M. at Harvard University. Anita also serves as a 2005-2006 Thrivent Fellow.
Anita is a lifelong Lutheran and member of Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church. She additionally serves on the Hickory Historic Commission, the Catawba Valley Girl Scout Council, and the University of South Dakota Foundation Board of Trustees. She and her husband Leo live in Hickory. Hobbies include: family genealogy, spaniels, refinishing furniture and travel.
