When I am Injured on the Job

See that notice on the bulletin board in your work area? It is printed on University letterhead stationery, and it gives important contact information.

Here’s the main point: you and your supervisor share responsibility for a safe work environment. Similarly you share responsibility for reporting and rectifying any unsafe condition. In the event that an incident occurs, you share responsibility for properly reporting it and for following the institutional procedures for treatment.

Tell Ann Marie Blackmon or the Director of Campus Security if you are hurt on the job. Do not go to your family doctor if you are hurt on the job. Do not go alone to the University-approved physician or medical facility.

Here’s another "Do not": do not get up quick and hope no one notices if you sustain an injury! It is important to report every incident, even if it seems trivial or embarrassing at the time. In accordance with both good management and OSHA requirements, all incidents must be reported and responded to promptly, and corrective action taken where necessary.
