Faculty Search 2009

Lenoir-Rhyne University announces the following full-time faculty openings, beginning August 2009 (unless otherwise noted). College of Education and Human Services: Assistant Professor, Elementary Education

Tenure-track position in Elementary Education, beginning August 2009. Ph.D. or Ed.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to those candidates with a background in general special education, teaching English as a Second Language, in Birth-Kindergarten, or teaching Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing. Candidates must be licensed or eligible to hold a North Carolina Educator's License in the area of Elementary Education with preference given to candidates who are licensed in one of the additional areas listed. Review of applications begins on December 10, 2008 and will continue until the position is filled.
College of Professional and Mathematical Studies: Assistant Professor, Accounting

Tenure-track position, beginning August 2009. Ph.D. in Accounting is preferred but candidates with a related doctorate with current academic qualifications in Accounting and CPA and/or CMA certification will also be considered. Additional expertise in health care administration, entrepreneurship/small business operations, organizational communications,
and/or international business will be viewed favorably. Review of applications begins January 2, 2009, and will continue until the position is filled.
College of Education and Human Services: Assistant Professor, Counselor
Education

Tenure-track position beginning August 2009. Ph.D. or equivalent is expected by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to those candidates with a background in working with special populations in schools and/or agencies. College of Arts and Sciences: Assistant Professor, Psychology

Tenure-track position, beginning August 2009. Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates with a background in Experimental and/or Developmental Psychology who can sustain an active undergraduate research program with students are strongly preferred. Ability to teach undergraduate research methods is preferred

College of Arts and Sciences: Assistant Professor, Political Science

Tenure-track position in Political Science, beginning August 2009. Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Background in International Relations and Organizations, Comparative Politics, and/or US Foreign Policy required. Ability to teach undergraduate statistical analysis course preferred. The appointment may also teach the introductory American Government course in the University's core curriculum and will coordinate its Model UN program.   College of Professional and Mathematical Studies: Assistant Professor, Journalism and Converging Technologies

Tenure-track appointment in Journalism and Converging Technologies, beginning August 2009. Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to those candidates with a background in on-line Journalism, web publishing and/or print reporting. Candidates should be prepared to teach media writing (intro and advanced), feature writing and advanced reporting. Ability to teach one or more of the following is a plus: Media Law, Intro to Mass Communications, Communications Theory and Research, and Public Speaking. College of Health Sciences: Assistant Professor, Occupational Therapy

Tenure-track appointment in Occupational Therapy, beginning August 2009. Candidates must hold a professional degree in Occupational Therapy and a doctoral degree in a related field, must demonstrate competency and experience in occupational therapy, and must be eligible for North Carolina licensure. Applicants with experience and interest with non-traditional
course deliveries are preferred. Review of applications begins November 3, 2008 and will continue until the position is filled.

  College of Health Sciences: Assistant Professor, Athletic Training

Tenure-track appointment in the Master's of Athletic Training program, beginning August 2009. Ph.D./Ed.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to those candidates with a background in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, or Motor Development. This position is a dual appointment with a 25% release for involvement in the clinical setting. Review of applications begins December 1, 2008 and will continue until the position is filled.
