VIII. DISCIPLINARY ACTION, GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

VIII A.  Disciplinary Action.  Disciplinary action by a supervisor may be necessary because of any of the following: inefficiency, inattention to duty, insubordination, absence without leave, disloyalty, intoxication, immorality, lack of integrity, violation of college regulations, or other behavior unbecoming an employee of Lenoir-Rhyne College.  This list is not all-inclusive and is subject to change.

Disciplinary action, depending on the severity of the offense, may take one or more of the following forms: a verbal or written warning, the making up of lost time, the withholding of a salary increase, suspension without pay, demotion, or dismissal.

VIII B.  Grievances.  If you perceive a problem relative to your work at Lenoir-Rhyne you are directed to follow a formal grievance procedure.  Initially you should discuss and document the perceived problem with your immediate supervisor; if it remains unresolved you should discuss and document it with the personnel office; if it still remains unresolved you may request a meeting with the Vice President of your area.
