Kids in KoncertKids in Koncert at Lenoir-Rhyne College is a music program offering the internationally famous Suzuki musical training method. Founded in 1982 at Lenoir-Rhyne, the popular program offers instruction to students of all ages (age 4 to adult) in violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, harp, and piano. You can enrich your life by enrolling in this most rewarding program. Parents play an important role in the learning process. By attending lessons with the child and learning fundamentals of the instrument themselves by observing at the lesson, they become home teachers and have a direct influence in guiding their child's development. The Suzuki Kids in Koncert program is reasonably priced and all students receive a weekly private lesson with the instructor with the parent in attendance. In addition, students are also offered group lesson opportunities to practice the common repertoire, refine music reading skills, and to perform. Performance opportunities abound and include solo recitals, play-ins, and opportunities for ensemble experiences. Summers bring the possibility of additional music choices including Suzuki camps and institutes offered all around the U. S. as well as summer instruction at Lenoir-Rhyne. Students in the Kids in Koncert program have become leaders in school orchestras, accompanists for high school choruses, musicians in area churches. Some have gone on to major in music in colleges and universities. The Suzuki method is more than just a musical training program. It is a whole philosophy about learning that is designed to nurture each child's personal abilities and to bolster feelings of self worth. The program has proven to be eminently successful, helping young people develop not only their musical ability but a sense of beauty in their hearts and excellence of character. Limited scholarship possibilities are available on a short-term basis if need is demonstrated and scholarship money is available. Faculty: |
