Finding articles and other online research materials
For many purposes students may want to begin with these
two multi-disciplinary databases which include many full-text articles and
both scholarly and popular periodical titles:
| Another good starting point is JSTOR, which provides deep coverage of core scholarly journals in many fields. All articles are full-text, but the most recent 3 - 5 years are omitted. |
For additional and more specialized resources, explore the links to the right, grouped by broad subject areas.
If you know the name of the database you need, check the A-Z list.
NCLIVE includes most, but not all, of our database resources. For access to all our e-resources from off-campus, get the password here.
Internet resources
The links included in Internet
Resources were compiled some time ago by librarians at Lenoir-Rhyne, but
we are not actively adding to this collection at present.
(Note: use the "back" link to return here.
The banner links in this area are outdated and may not work.)
We recommend you also explore one or more of these:
The Librarian's Internet Index
Infomine
Internet Public Library
For a general search engine, you might like Metacrawler. It combines results from Google, Yahoo, MSNSearch and more. Google Scholar and Google Books may retrieve more academically relevant results - but in many cases you won't have full access to the resources that are "discovered" this way. Use our links to licensed research databases shown on this page to get to the resources purchased explicitly for your benefit!
