Library Collections and Branches

Faculty do much of the book and media selection at L-R.  Contact your school chair for more information.  Here is the online order form.  Tools to assist with materials selection may be found here.

In addition to the Carl A. Rudisill Library, Lenoir-Rhyne maintains three small branch collections:

The library includes some archival college records and very limited special collections.  A partial listing of archival holdings can be found in this guide.  (Note: the many pages in the archival web area have not yet been updated with our new banner.  The library home link will work correctly, though.)

Facilities in the Library

Coffee lounge lower level
Machine-brewed Starbuck's coffee, hot chocolate, mocha or decaf for $1.00.  Also an unofficial free trading library of popular fiction, lounge seating, and space to relax.
Computers various locations 
2nd floor - lab/classrooms - second floor, rooms 210 and 203; Curriculum Lab - primarily for use of education students.
1st floor - reference area - six computers for library applications, one workstation for visually impaired, and also four newer  computers in large carrels, with standard applications software.
Lower level - none.
Wireless access to L-R network: throughout the building, with a few exceptions.  This network is web-access only.
Curriculum lab 2nd floor
Curriculum kits, textbooks, puppets, etc. for use by students in teacher education.  Also computers equipped with specialized software for education.

Elevator all floors except mezzanine

If you need books from the mezzanine level and can't get there, we will retrieve them for you. Please contact the circulation desk.

Library Staff Offices 1st floor
Various locations on the 1st floor.  Just ask.
Media Services 1st floor
Media-equipped classroom (101), 3 media viewing rooms, TV studio and editing room, graphics room, media software and hardware, media reserves, staff work areas. 
Photocopiers  LL and 2nd floor
Second floor in Curriculum Lab and lower level in microforms area: coin-op .05/copy.  Change available at the circulation desk. Microform reader-printers also available on the lower level.

"Quiet Study Room" 1st floor, down the hall
The original library's reading room, this space is designated for quiet study and has both study tables and lounge seating. On occasion this room is used for readings and other special events.
Restrooms All floors
Locations vary by floor.  Just ask for directions.

Special Collections 2nd floor
Available by special arrangement only.  Email refdesk@lrc.edu.
Study Carrels 2nd floor
Eight private study carrels may be assigned to faculty, graduate students or honors students for a semester's use.  Contact the office at 828-328-7236.

Writing Center 2nd floor
The Center for Communication and Learning is at the top of the main staircase.  Find tutors and advice on all stages of the writing process.  (Administratively separate from the library.)  
Information Technology 2nd floor
Offices, labs, and workrooms for IT are housed on the second floor of the library above the Media Services wing. (These are administratively separate from the library.)
