The Lenoir-Rhyne
University Mathematics Program recommends the use of the TI-83 or TI-83
Plus graphing calculator in many of our introductory courses. We strongly
believe that appropriate use of technology aids in student
understanding of the ideas behind the mathematical manipulations.
Following this philosophy, we have chosen the TI-83 for its versatility
in statistical and business applications. Core courses such as MAT 115
(Elementary Statistics) and MAT 125 (Finite Mathematics) make heavy use
of the calculator - they should not be attempted without one.
Please note that calculator use may not be allowed for part or all of
many higher level courses including Calculus.
