Course description: Open to all students.  Study and performance of a variety of brass ensemble literature.  Several performances throughout the academic year.

Materials required:

1. Music folder and pencil to be brought to every rehearsal.

2. Music will be distributed to each student and is the student’s responsibility.  A replacement fee will be assessed if the folder and music are lost.

Evaluation:

1. Class participation and general demeanor.

2. Rehearsal and performance attendance.

Attendance Policy: All ensembles rely heavily upon rehearsal as well as performance attendance.  Attendance will be taken for every class meeting by the instructor.  You are considered late if the class has started and you walk in late.  Two lates will be the equivalent to one unexcused absence.

Excused absences from class include illness (with a doctor's note detailing the period off illness), family emergencies, or a school function.  All these must be cleared by the instructor within one week of the absence.  All other absences are considered unexcused.  One complete letter grade will be taken away for the first three unexcused absences from rehearsal and for every subsequent unexcused absence from rehearsal.  One unexcused absence from a dress rehearsal will result in a reduction of two letter grades.  One unexcused absence in a performance will result in a failing grade for the semester.

Academic Integrity Policy Students are expected to comply with the college Academic Integrity Policy. Please see the L-R College Catalog for specific information.
