MUS 151.03 – Women’s EnsembleFALL,
2007 Prof.
Florence Jowers Course Description: This
ensemble for women’s voices will introduce singers to both sacred and
secular repertoire, sightsinging techniques, proper vocal production,
diction, and other facets of good choral technique.
It is also a performing ensemble, although without the pressure
of a tour. Evaluation: Singers
will be evaluated on their attendance and participation in the class.
An ensemble cannot function without full participation of all its
members, so grades will be affected by class absences, tardiness, or
inappropriate behavior in the rehearsal.
An unexcused missed performance will mean failure for the class.
If one is sick but still attending classes, please attend the
rehearsal, even if you cannot sing.
Much can be learned by listening.
•
Each unexcused absence will lower the grade by one letter.
To
qualify as an excused absence, the student must present a doctor’s
excuse, stating that the student was ill enough to miss classes.
A headache, or feeling bad, does not qualify.
The student should come to the rehearsal, if only to listen. College Attendance Policy: “Students
are expected to attend classes and laboratories as specified by the
instructor, who will state his or her attendance policy in writing at
the beginning of the semester. No
allowed number of absences is automatically granted to a student.
Ordinarily, a student will not receive credit if 25% of the
scheduled class meetings are missed.” (p. 84, 2007-2008 Catalog) Performances: ~
