Catalog description:
A study of the theoretical and practical development of children's
voices, dealing with vocal production, literature, choral techniques,
and the practical details of organizing and managing a church or
community chorus. Two credits.
Objectives and Methodology:
Class and lab attendance and participation are important to the
successful completion of this course. Designed as a seminar, the student
will participate by making class presentations, by conducting, and
through individual work with a children's choir. Skills will be learned
through practice and active participation; resources will be gathered
through the use of individual research, the keeping of notebooks and in
presentations from all students in the class.
Grading criteria:
Lab attendance and journal (notebook): 30%
Tests on reading: 25%
Homework and class participation 30%
Class presentation: 15%
*Each component of the class must be successfully completed in order to
earn credit for the class.

Course Outline and Assignments:
Through reading assignments, lectures, and labs, class presentations,
and projects, the student will develop a theoretical/historical
appreciation of children's choir techniques, as well as practical hands
on experience with different ages.
