CATALOG DESCRIPTION
Provides some of the necessary tools for church music ministry, including anthem selection, organ and vocal repertoire, and sacred music repertoire for keyboard with instruments. This course will also focus on musical and liturgical resources needed for worship planning; denominational hymnal companions, lectionary resources, and other worship aids.

OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this course students will have:
1. become knowledgeable of practical resources from various denominations and viewpoints
2. assembled a notebook of such resources
3. found repertoire for their particular skill/interest areas
4. become acquainted with standard library resources for the church musician
5. met gifted church musicians/guest presenters from a variety of area parishes
6. developed a sense of the usefulness of various resources and repertoire
7. engaged in discussion of the management of a church music program

EVALUATION
Individual research - 40%
Class participation and presentation - 45%
Assignments - 15%

ATTENDANCE
Due to the seminar format of the class, attendance is mandatory, and the semester grade will be affected for failure to attend class. The success of the class depends on the cooperation and hard work of each member, as all the projects are inter-related.
