CHAPEL
CHOIR Conductor:
Dr. Paul Weber, Office
107, 328-7149, weber_pd Purpose: The Lenoir-Rhyne College Chapel Choir gives musical leadership to campus-wide chapel services, thus leading the college community in praise of the Triune God. Membership:
The Chapel Choir is a volunteer organization open to faculty,
staff, and students on a non-auditioned basis.
Sacred Music students participate in the Chapel Choir to fulfill
the service component of their academic programs. Rehearsals:
Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays, from 12:15-12:50, in the Choral
Rehearsal Room. Sacred
music students are to be at every rehearsal and chapel service at which
the choir sings. There is
no attendance policy for other singers, although they are strongly
encouraged to participate fully. Chapel
Services: The Choir
warms up at 9:50 am in Room 104 on the days in which it participates in
Chapel. All singers should
make an effort to be present. Please
ask to be excused from class early.
IMPORTANT: If you
have not been present at the warm-up or the last
rehearsal, you are still encouraged to sing with the Choir
unless notified by the conductor. Fellowship:
The Choir is intended to promote community between faculty,
staff, and students. A
relaxed atmosphere is encouraged, but, at the same time, emphasis is
placed on musical excellence and spiritual growth as God-given
abilities are developed to their utmost. Opportunities:
Members of the Chapel Choir are encouraged to serve as cantors,
accompanists, instrumentalists and conductors for worship.
Repertoire:
Repertoire includes classical choral literature as well as
newly-composed worship materials and anthems representing a variety of
styles and traditions. This
year we will be sampling the works of the masters from a new choral
resource published by Augsburg Publishing House, the Chantry
Choirbook. Folders:
A numbered folder with music is provided each singer.
If you take your folder, you
are responsible for its contents and whereabouts.
Chapel
Attendance: Chapel
Choir members are encouraged to make chapel a regular part of their
weekly schedule even and especially when the choir does not sing.
