Mr. Murray holds the Bachelor of Music and the Master of Music degrees from Winthrop University. He is a first call professional musician based in Charlotte, NC and has played with some of the top names in jazz and pop music. Highlights include:

Recordings

He has performed on numerous recordings and as a featured soloist in “Andrew Thielen Big Band” and “A Swinging Christmas” television shows, both which have been shown on Public Broadcasting television stations nationwide.  Recently appeared with Wayne Newton on “Tribute to Winston” on Speed Network and with Ralna English for PBS a special.

Awards

  • Regional Artist Grant for 2004 to produce CD of fusion jazz (Jack Murray – “Amalgamation”)

  • “Most Outstanding Saxophone Performer” - Mobile Jazz Festival (March 26, 1994)

  • Winthrop University , Presser Scholarship, an annual award given to an outstanding junior with a high GPA and with high achievement in applied music.

  • Winthrop University , Peggy Johnson Altman Scholarship, given to a student with high academic performance and potential, as well as musical talent, strong moral character, and integrity.
