Dr. Katherine “Winky” Pasour, Lenoir-Rhyne College, was selected by NCAHPERD to receive the 2006 Honor Award.  The Honor Award is the highest level of professional recognition given to a member.

Katherine "Winky" Pasour is the Chair of the School of Health Sciences at Lenoir-Rhyne College, a position she has held since 2001. Prior to this position, she served as the K-12 Physical Education Coordinator working with student majors. A member of NCAAHPERD since 1979, Winky taught at Draper Elementary School in Eden, North Carolina. During her tenure there, Draper Elementary was designated as a national Physical Education Demonstration School by the President’s Council on Fitness and Sports (1991-1994 and 1995-1996) and received the Governor’s Award for Youth Fitness (1988-1994 and 1996).

During her professional career, Winky has always sought to “bring out the best in others.” This is keenly reflected in her volunteer work as the editor of the North Carolina Journal (1997-2006).

For her meritorious contributions to NCAAHPERD and for her love of the profession, the Alliance is proud to present the 2006 Honor Award to Katherine "Winky" Pasour.
