L-R PSI CHI

Psychology is the study of human behavior in all of its complexity. It looks at the critical issues of daily life. Is there a personality prone to heart attacks? Do children of working mothers suffer ill effects? What does divorce do to children? Does pornography incite violence against women? Do prayer and meditation have an effect on personal and family health?

As a social science, psychology studies these questions from both a scientific and values-oriented perspective. Such issues can be studied by the scientific method, but also must be put into the perspective of the liberal arts and of the Christian faith. Pornography, for example, can be studied scientifically to understand its relation to violence; but there are also questions of the human condition that need also be addressed to gain a deeper perspective of the subject. That's what makes the study of psychology most interesting!
