B.S.
in Conservation of Natural
Resources
The
interdisciplinary CNR major is
designed to promote student
understanding about conservation
and environmental issues and to
enable students to make meaningful
contributions toward the
management of the world's natural
resources. The CNR major
focuses on conservation education
through course work in the natural
and social sciences with emphasis
on student research, case-study
and project-based learning. Students
in the CNR major focus their
studies in the natural resource
field by choosing either science
or policy
curriculum tracks.
Scholarship
and
Future Opportunities
Conservation
of Natural Resources students and
faculty engage in scholarship and
research that identifies
appropriate and applicable
solutions to environmental and
conservation problems in local,
regional and global communities.
These unique and challenging
educational and life experiences
assist CNR majors in successfully
advancing their careers as skilled
professionals and informed
citizens.
Students
will acquire a broad knowledge of
conservation issues and will learn
a wealth of natural resources
measurement, management, and
problem-solving skills. Graduates
will be well-equipped to deal with
real-world natural resource needs
and will have a wide variety of
career opportunities.
Internships
and Study Abroad
Internships
and study abroad field and
research experiences are strongly
encouraged.
Conservation and Natural Resources
internships are available during a
student’s junior and senior
years and offer a valuable,
practical supplement to classroom
learning. Furthermore, many
successful interns are offered
full-time employment upon
graduation.
Overseas
travel and study opportunities are
available to CNR majors to
increase awareness of foreign
cultures and foreign conservation
issues. L-R offers summer,
semester and year-long study
abroad programs.
