About the Conference
This conference will examine the environmental, economic and social impact of China's rapid industrial growth and environmental challenge. The global and local implications of this growth will be addressed in a series of presentations and roundtable discussions. The conference will provide up-to-date information, reference materials and other suggestions for teaching about China's environmental issues from a variety of perspectives.  This weekend seminar has been organized by the Reese Institute for the Conservation of Natural Resources at Lenoir-Rhyne University and by the South Atlantic States Association for Asian and African Studies (SASASAAS), a 23-member consortium of colleges and universities in the southeastern United States that was established in 1971 to stimulate and enhance the study of Asia and Africa.

Who Should Attend
This event is open to all
faculty, staff and students at member institutions, and neighboring pre-collegiate teachers and community members. Environmental groups, local business and community leaders will find this conference useful in better understanding the economic and environmental impact of China in the world today.

Location
Conference meetings will be held in 213 McCrorie Hall on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC.  Directions to L-RMap to McCrorie Hall.
