The Conference

The Presenters

Designed to be of interest and significance for  laity and clergy as well as academic scholars, the annual Aquinas/Luther Conferences bring together distinguished scholars for the presentation and discussion of fresh insights into the thought of the great Catholic theologian and the great Protestant theologian.
DR. RONDA CHERVIN, Professor of Philosophy (ret.), Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles; Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Lenoir-Rhyne; now residing in Morganton, North Carolina.
This year’s topic, Aquinas and Luther on Spirituality, Holiness, and the Saints, brings distinguished theologians from across the United States to address these dimensions of the Christian life.
DR. REGIS MARTIN, Professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville , Steubenville , Ohio .
We are asking each speaker to address the overall topic in such fashion as to offer insights to laity, students, clergy, and scholars that will be of interest and importance to each.  Each speaker will address the general topic from his or her chosen perspective.
FR. PATRICK HENRY REARDON, Senior Editor of Touchstone, and Pastor of All Saints Orthodox Church, Chicago , Illinois .
The 14th annual edition of the Aquinas/Luther Conference is sponsored by the Center for Theology at Lenoir-Rhyne College in cooperation with parishes in Hickory that have participated in the Roman Catholic-Lutheran Covenant: St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, and Holy Trinity. St. Andrews and Mt. Olive Lutheran Churches .
PR. AMY SCHIFRIN, STS, Lutheran doctoral candidate and Interim Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania
The purpose of these explorations, inaugurated in 1993, is to contribute both toward the renewal and realization of the visions of Thomas Aquinas and Martin Luther, and toward healing of the sixteenth-century breach in Christendom.
