Every day you rely heavily on your cognitive skills and your logic but today let Valentine’s Day be a reminder that your Heart has its own logic and …………. trust it.

“The Heart has its reasons

whereof Reason knows nothing.”

Blaise Pascal the French mathematician who wrote that phrase lived more than three hundred years ago.  Although  Pascal was correct he had no way to prove why.  Today’s neuroscientists have proven that:

1.        the neural systems responsible for emotion (limbic system) and intellect (neo-cortex) are separate

2.       the emotional system of the brain (limbic system) reaches back 100 million years while cognition (neo-cortex) is a few hundred thousand years old at best

3.       because of the brain’s design Heart (the limbic system) does not communicate fluently with Logic (the neo-cortex)

4.       because of the brain’s design  Heart defeats Reason
