Greeter -  This position is responsible for greeting visitors as they enter the museum and educating guests about movie and program options.  Greeters answer questions concerning Discovery Place and the surrounding community.  Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, be assertive, dependable and able to work a flexible schedule.  A love of science and children is strongly preferred.  Customer service experience is required.  Experience in a museum or school environment is preferred.  Evening and weekend shifts are available.  

Guest Services Associate - Process admissions to museum and accurately handle and account for admission fees paid.  Inform visitors about Discovery Place daily events and answer questions.  Promote Discovery Place membership sales.  Greet groups of visitors upon arrival to museum.  This position may also work the Will Call desk.  Prior cash handling experience required and proficiency in basic computer and typing skills required.  Good communication skills with fluent English required.

Ares Sportswear, a medium-sized, fast-growing sportswear company, is looking for a short-term marketing representative to visit greater Hickory area middle and high schools to deliver Ares' sports catalogs as part of the company's national Community Marketing Program. No selling is involved in the position.  At each school, the short-term marketing rep works with the secretary at the main office to get the catalogs directly into the coaches' mailboxes. He or she also fills out a form listing any changes in coaching staff and returns the form to Ares for data processing. Ares provides the short-term marketing rep with a well-planned driving route for efficiency. Each route has a deadline for completion based on the number of schools in that route.  Candidates must be reliable, honest and efficient and must possess good people skills. College students and graduates with 3.5 GPAs majoring in any business-related field or others looking for short-term work are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have reliable transportation.  Ares issues compensation per school visited only after Ares receives completed coach change of information forms for each school and after verifying delivery with the schools' secretaries. Reps average approximately $15-$19 per hour.
