What does Panhellenic Mean?

Sororities were establish over a century ago by women who shared common interests, intellectual goals, and social concerns. Today, sororities still offer the original founders' desires. Sororities encourage young women to learn and grow in the spirit of sisterhood and friendship. Greek life gives you a chance to grow through learning about others. The people you meet and experiences you share will shape your future. Along with sisterhood and friendship, scholarship and leadership are important parts of sorority life.  All sororities stress the importance of academic excellence through an active scholarship program. Leadership is encouraged both on campus and within each chapter. Social activities are also important to sorority life. Sororities are involved in formal parties, Founder's Day celebrations and many campus events. No matter what sorority you choose, the friendships you will form will be strong. From the first day, you will become a part of a group of women with whom you can share your dreams, fears, laughter, and even tears. A sorority experience is not something put away and forgotten after college. The lessons learned and the friendships made will remain important forever.
