The sisterhood of Zeta Tau Alpha is unique on the Lenoir-Rhyne campus. Our organization is a Fraternity started for and by women. Below are some cool facts we bet you didn't know about us. :)
• Zeta Tau Alpha originated in Farmville, Va. in 1898 with nine founders, and since then, has grown internationally to become the THIRD largest Women’s Fraternity in the nation with over 225 ZTA chapters nationwide.
• Recently, ZTA has expanded throughout the world with numerous alumni chapters throughout Europe. Thus as an international women’s fraternity ZTA offers its members opportunities around the world!
Throughout the Lenoir-Rhyne University campus, you can spot the ZTA’s by the three letters on our attire and the big smile on our faces. We are very active on the campus in that every sister enjoys a life outside of ZTA.
• Sisters participate in community service activities both on and off campus.
• We are active in clubs, intramurals, choir, music ensembles, Residence Life, theatre, and peer tutoring
• Within our chapter we have a 100% participation rate in campus organizations outside of ZTA.
ZTA’s national philanthropy works towards the prevention of breast cancer and funding research for the same cause. We work closely with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
• ZTA participates in many activities to help educate and fund the foundation’s cause against breast cancer sich as: Race for the Cure in both Charlotte and Hickory, change drives, passing out self-examination shower cards, car washes, and passing out candy along with breast cancer facts during college athletic events.
• We were the recipients of ZTA’s North Carolina Service Award for 2001!
Scholarship plays an important role in ZTA, and there are many opportunities for Scholarship money. We are a diverse group with an array of different majors.
• Many sisters are Honors students as well as ZTA scholars
• Every semester we have sister’s on the dean’s list and the president’s list
• We have a G.P.A. minimum requirement of 2.2 yet as a chapter, we average above a 3.2
