Residence LifeResidential Services
CABLE TELEVISION Television cable outlets are provided in each Residence Hall Room and BASIC commercial cable TV is included in the Residence Hall fee. It is the students' responsibility to make arrangements with the local cable company and pay for premium cable programming. If a student changes rooms at any time during the school year, by choice or by consolidation, the student is responsible for any reconnection charges the cable company may assess for the premium cable programming.
COMPUTER PORTS All Residence Halls have been wired for direct access to the Internet and e-mail from a data jack in each Residence Hall room. A data jack is provided for each resident. A special card and cable are needed in order to access this service with the student's computer. Questions or concerns about e-mail or other computer services should be directed to the office of Information Technology.
HOUSEKEEPING Housekeeping is responsible for the upkeep of the common areas of the Residence Halls such as lounges, hallways, community bathrooms, and laundry rooms. Residents have a responsibility as a member of the community to assist in keeping the common areas of residence halls clean. Residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms.
MAINTENANCE REPAIRS Requests by students for repairs to residence hall rooms and furnishings should be submitted using this on-line form. Small problems are usually corrected within two working days. If a problem has not been corrected in a reasonable amount of time, notify the RA or Area Coordinator.
Telephone jacks for each resident are provided in the Residence Hall rooms. Students are responsible for providing their own telephone. Local phone service is provided to each room and is included in the Residence Hall fee. Voice mail is provided for each phone jack. Answering machines and Caller ID boxes are not allowed in residence hall rooms. Students are assigned to phone jacks at the time room assignments are made. Since directory information is based on the phone number assigned to each resident, it is very important that residents use the assigned phone jack/phone number. Questions about how to use the phone system should be directed to the RA, Area Coordinator or the office of Information Technology.
VENDING AND LAUNDRY MACHINES Coin-operated vending and laundry machines are located in the Residence Halls. Any maintenance issues related to these machines (vandalism to machines or inoperable machines) should be reported to a Residence Life Staff member. |
