Campus Security Safety and Health Plan Administrative Responsibilities Staff Organization As chief executive officer, the President of Lenoir-Rhyne College is responsible for Safety and Health at the College. The president has authorized his Cabinet to appoint individuals who are responsible for implementation and management of a safety plan. The Risk and Benefit Coordinator is responsible for administration of Workers Compensation benefits. The Director of Safety and Security is responsible for the development and management of the Safety and Health Plan. The Director and his staff evaluate College operations and facilities to determine applicable OSHA, fire protection and environmental regulations, and to devise methods to comply with these regulations and reduce the risk of accidents.College and Administrative Unit Safety Committees College and administrative units listed below are to have safety committees appointed by their respective Deans, Vice Presidents, Directors, or Department Heads:
These unit safety committees will be of such size as deemed desirable by the appointing authority. Supervisor/Faculty Member The supervisor/faculty member has responsibility to provide safe working conditions for those being supervised and for follow-up to reports of violations of safe working conditions. The supervisor/faculty member shall also be responsible for knowing safety and health guidelines, investigating and reporting of accidents and properly advising higher management as appropriate. He is expected to work closely with the Director of Safety and Security and with the Benefits/Risk Coordinator. The safety and health program is the responsibility of each employee, supervisor and manager. Safety should be an important factor in evaluating the work performance of each. Employee Each employee is to place safety and health requirements as first priority in the performance of their work duties. The protection of fellow employees and the public on College property is a shared responsibility of every employee. An employee is responsible for notifying his immediate supervisor of a violation or deficiency in safe and healthful working conditions and for recommending corrective measures if possible. Additionally, each employee shall notify his immediate supervisor of every injury of accident, regardless of how trivial such accident may appear at the time. The employee and the supervisor share the responsibility to notify the Director of Safety and Security and the Benefits/Risk Coordinator.
